The Cut-Out on the side of the trigger guard is what designates it from a Right handed model over a Left handed model (Which would have the same Cut-Out trigger guard on the Left side). Apparently it is a finger rest that was suppose to aid in a faster rested finger off the trigger trigger, to on the trigger. If you were to have it refinished & change the grips, it would be worth as much as a basic S&W 39-2. There were ONLY 450 ASP's EVER made, keep it in it's original condition, or sell it.
... I thought it was made by Paris Theodore, owner of Seventrees, Ltd. a custom Gun Shop in New York from (Circa:1975-1987) not a S&W that was modified? Anyways would you ever sell your ASP? I'll be coming back to the stated in less than a year from The French Foreign Legion & have always wanted to track down one of these, + I have a nice amount of money having nothing to spend it on in France, other than some gear from the XP & Kronenbourg 1664. I love that little gun.
The magazine safety prevents it from firing with the magazine removed, most newer S&W's do have that safety as you said. The 39 series and 59 series along with others at the time were designed for law enforcement use, with the magazine safety and the de-cocking safety etc, where such added measures might be needed. They are definitely fine pistols, and your Smith looks awesome at that. Thanks for the awesome video, and keep up the good work. =)
as an additional bonus, your ASP,in the condition it is in,is worth around $2400+,because an ASP in 95% condition (minor holster wear) will sell for $3000 easily.
absolute beautiful piece you have there! i really want to convert a S&W 3913 into one of these,i might get a 3913 next year and i certainly one to have one of these via conversions,i can probably get custom clear grips made and have a guttersnipe sight machined plus some match grade parts on top of that.for the record ASP stands for Armament Systems and Procedures, and there were only 450 made,it was introduced in 1975,therefore anachronistic to black ops.hope that helps!

Thanks very for this vid, its always nice to see people who actually have this beutiful gun are willing to expose it. :)
Umm price wise they can range from $2000-$4000 but some have been known to go for less,
This is the second video on YT of the ASP, atleast by a different user, and currently it is my favourite firearm and i aspire to own one one day :)
Thanks again for the vid!
