This scene and dance puts me in early or "mission" California. I don't think any scene of any movie makes me feel that way except this one.. Also, the Spanish-Irish look tops them all.

His pants are tight because that's how they wore them in Zorro's day. The movie censors demanded that any star's manhood had to be padded over enough so as not to be noticed.
Yes, they are the most beautiful couple in the history of the movies, imo!
Gale Sondergaard was the older woman. She should have been nominated for a supporting actress oscar.
And the director, Rouben Mamoulian, guided the actors through their paces with great artistry. Some of his work is still copied today.
