thanks, salimah! it helps to put a perspective in my own life as well, as much of it seems to be mirrored in their story. I am thankful for this story and draw much comfort from it. I will always love F and F for that undying and tumultuous pairing because it has some of my life in it too. Wonderful to share this love of them with you! I did what Felicia did and accepted my separation--it was for the best for her and I.
There has to be some understanding somewhere in this, and it lies in the two children. Their safety and future was the most crucial of all, and Felicia realized that that was the most important thing. She was wise beyond her yrs and let her personal pain go to raise her girls and keep them stable. It is later she joins Frisco after all (Georgie's death)and therein lies the happy ending of Fr and Felicia. You cannot help but cry when Frisco does--his pain and loss are so real.
I like when Tony says that Frisco always seems to get away with things and he is bitter about Frisco giving up his family. But Felicia reiterates that she loves him for who he is. The ending is so bittersweet, with Frisco picking up his gun to go back to work but he breaks down because he lost Felicia and maxie. What a tortured and tragic soul! I feel for him, and I feel his pain lies deeper than the narrative explained. Frisco never accepted the separation, but Felicia did.
Frisco's lifestyle does not allow for raising kids, lets not forget. his is one of danger and travel and spontaneity and uncertainty--good for Frisco and his sense of adventure, but completely unfitting for a small child and a baby. Felicia sensed this, and let her love for her girls come before her love for Frisco. That is the true sacrifice of a mother. The issue is not what is best for F and F but what is best for Maxie and Georgie. Felicia did what she thought was best.
frisco go back home to felicia i know it hurts. you said u love her.... and i know u love her...... she needs you and maxie needs you...... give your marridge another chance dont give up you both have being together for a long time
i'm wondering if the issue from frisco's past (used as the reason for his departure in 1991) was ever resolved or discussed again past that point. taking the narrative at face value, it's clear that something deeply complicated and complex beyond his desire for adventure kept him where he was... and let's not forget, he did ask felicia to join him with the baby a few months after he took off, so he did want them. it's so tragic on so many levels.
This ending shows such raw emotion. A tear jerker. Everything is said without any words spoken. Hard to imagine the need for adventure to overshadow the desire to be with your children. But, if this were "real life" I would say Frisco loved his daughters, but was also emotionally detached from them. I just loved the two of them together - Frisco & Felicia and Jack & Kristina.

@ladyofmyheart what an astute observation: "frisco never accepted the separation, but felicia did."
