Surya Bonaly, 3 times Olympian and World Champion in Figure Ice Skating has tested XTRAICE ecological ice. Before she has tested different synthetic ice, also called plastic ice, artificial ice, fake ice, faked ice, imitation ice, pretend ice. Here her conclusion:
"In my career Ive already been performing on different kind of synthetic ice through out the world. Now I have tested XTRAICE and this is a whole different experience. On XTRAICE, skating is much more smooth than on other synthetic ice. You need much less effort when gliding on XTRAICE.
While on conventional ice you freeze your feet, on all other synthetic ice surfaces the feet get burning hot because of the friction. XTRAICE is great because your feet dont get cold or hot, just very comfortable. Also, normally other synthetic ice surfaces get very messy and sticky because of the loose abrasions, which slows down the speed. Moreover, skating on other synthetic ice can be very stressful because the seams are uneven and you have to watch out where to put your feet. XTRAICE is totally seamless and you cannot feel the connections of the panels.
After testing XTRAICE I was so convinced about it that I have bought my own surface for training and teaching. I can recommend XTRAICE as a substitute to conventional ice, which allows ice skating with no energy cost, low maintenance and safe for our environment."
