I was asked to make another episode on video editing in Linux. Today I will demonstrate how I make my episodes for YouTUBE and I will demonstrate chroma-keying. MY red background is a nightmare to Key out. I will show you how that is done..

  • I went to the kdenlive website an installed Kdenlive 0.8.2.1 which seems to be the latest release and dated dec 2011. I'll look for the Bzr version

  • @tmfarnham there should be a link to the source in Launchpad.

  • Openshot was already installed and working fine.

  • @tmfarnham ok then apparently it is a problem with kdenlive itself. Did you try to see if there is a PPA for a newer version? Another option would be to install the Bzr version.

Thanks for your help on this subject. As I'm not the only one with this problem, I decided to give it one last go. I removed both Openshot and Kdnlive from my Ubuntu setup. I then installed Kdnlive and tried to run it. I got the same problem.

I then installed Openshot. That ran witout any problem.

I've now given up and will wait until the Kdenlive guys come up with a simple solution. Life is too short for this.

    Thanks again.

    Tony

  • @tmfarnham try also installing openshot...it uses MLT

  • I've just removed Kdenlive and re installed it using Synapic. I get the same problem.

Time to give up I think for the time being.

    Thanks for the help.

  • MLT not there on Synaptic list. My version of Kdenlive is 8. I installed it using Ubuntu Software Centre. I will un install it and the re install with Synaptic.
