AMVs are Serious Business (Self-Parody Anime Boston Comedy Overflow fail, etc.)

Disclaimer: All changes made to the original AMV were made purely to ensure that the AMV conformed to Anime Boston contest rules. Any resulting lulz may or may not be highly critical of said rules.

I'm bummed this didn't make the finals. I was hoping to make a statement and troll the contest at the same time. Unfortunately, I failed, and there will be no Avatar in Anime Boston's AMV contest this year. Of course, now I'm twice as determined to come up with something even better for next year. Up until then, I can hone my trolling skillz and attempt to come up with something more awesome.

I can think of a number of reasons this didn't make it. One could be that the prescreeners were offended by my concept--I hope that's not the case. xD It could also be that the joke was too subtle and they thought people wouldn't get it, which is a very real possibility. I was taking a big risk with this concept and I can't say that I'm overly shocked, even if I am disappointed. Either way, I expect to be highly entertained by the comedy category this year. My AMV "If I Could Find You Now" is a finalist in the romance category, however, so if you're at AB '11, watch out for it. =)

Ever since you posted that you didn't make it in on comedy, you had me interested in what your video was, but I never bothered to look for it. I just did a comedy overflow search in the youtube search engine to see if anyone recorded it (thought I greatly doubted it) and found your video, so I decided to check it out. I will be honest and say I didn't really see it funny, but it was still a good video. As I said to Kiarrens about the Hetalia one, I think this one too should have been in Other.:S

@ProjectAir In hindsight, I'm wondering if Other would have been a better choice. The joke is subtle and requires the audience having seen both the original videos and all the lulz on the AB forums. It does make a fairly narrow audience, I guess, though it would have satisfied me to see it on the big screen. Out of curiosity, did you watch the original version of this AMV (the one for Connecticon)?

You should enter this at the NDK, It's probably win in Comedy. And I would actually goto the AMV competition if you won, lol :)
