This is the theme music to the 1985-1988 version of the game show "Jackpot", hosted by Mike Darrow which aired on USA Network, and the 1989-1990 syndicated version, hosted by Geoff Edwards. This music, composed by Bob Cobert, was originally the theme to the 1977 NBC game show "Shoot For The Stars" also hosted by Geoff Edwards.

  • I recall Jackpot back in the 80's and was wondering was this Mike Darrow's only show? Sort of a one game show wonder, so to speak. Awesome theme music.

  • Mike Darrow was a Canadian-American television game show host best known for hosting the 1968-1970 ABC run of Dream House, the 1985-1988 Canadian-produced run of the Bob Stewart game show, Jackpot (seen in the U.S. on the USA Network), and Club 6 from 1960-1962.

He also hosted the first season of the game show The $128,000 Question, a syndicated revival of The $64,000 Question, in 1976. He also hosted the game show Bluff in 1976 and A Go Go '66 in 1966.

  • He was also the announcer for "The Who What or Where Game" from 1969 to 1974.

  • The few things I remember from this game show was that the contestants got to stay at the Inn on the Park along the Don Valley in Toronto, don't think it's in operation anymore, and also those wallets with the velcro that each player had to open in the game! LOL! Great memories.

  • @operator35 Thank you Captain Wikipedia.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, Each one of these 15 Players is holding an Envelope with a Riddle Inside. Only One Player has the "Jackpot Riddle", that could be worth Thousands of Dollars. At any Moment, Someone in the Game will Stand up and yell... "JACKPOT!!"

And Now, Here's our Host, Geoff Edwards!

  • @artytoons Thanks. I'll look for that.

  • @funboy7979 The "Shoot For The Stars" concept was revived as "Double Talk" on ABC in the mid 1980s with Henry Polic II as the host.

  • @operator35 He was also an announcer on the Who What or Where game.

  • How was the experience being on a game show?

  • Theme from the 1982 pilot "Twisters" starring Jim Perry.
