Interior view to Dm7 railbus operator cab.
Dm7 is a rail bus type which was used by the Finnish State Railways in 1955-1988.
The Dm7 is best known in Finland by its popular pet name "Lättähattu" - "The Flat Hat".
It could as well be freely translated into English as "Flat Hat". The name "Lättähattu" comes from a Finnish youth fashion from the middle of the 1950's, when teenager boys particularly from Helsinki used to wear American movie style imitating felt hats, the hood of which had been flattened.
Their appearence was based on an ordinary dark suit. Trousers were narrowed from legs as much as possible. Similarly, the coat shoulders were expanded with pads as much as possible.
Part of the style was a broad tie. The ensemble was crowned by a hat, usually a Borsalino or Roston, which had been hit flat or otherwise flattened, as much as to one third of its original height - "The Flat Hat".
