"Are you taping me?"
Yeah!
"I've been had before!" Glenn giggles.
Glenn Williams works out at Princeton Fitness. He is 91 years old, soon to be 92 on July 8th, 2009. His balance isn't the best, so he stays on the first floor now. We keep equipment that is best for our seniors on the first floor for just that reason. I followed him in the end of his routine to see what he had to say about it. He walks with a cane and was a POW in WWII. He walked a half mile on the treadmill and did 8 miles on the stationary bike today.

Our rates are low enough that everyone can afford us, with memberships starting at only $4.50/wk. Full access is only $7.50/wk. Sign up with someone else & save- full access for 2 is only $11/wk. The atmosphere is old school, where 100-year-old architectural charm meets modern convenience. If you've never been inside (or haven't been in the last 3 months) you should check it out. Even members who come in once a week are surprised by the changes we make each week. Shane Bonaparte (Princeton) said, "I don't even go there to work out anymore... I just come to see what you've done. I love that place. I don't call it Princeton Fitness... I call it My Place!" Other testimonials are on my website at home.insightbb.com/~fit

I get a kick out of teaching people how to use the machines & setting them up on training programs that suit their needs. Once they know what to do to make changes, it's as if this becomes their personal gym & all I do is keep their towels clean & answer the phones for them! I also enjoy seeing the members come out of the kickboxing class covered in sweat & saying "Great class!" & when they say their pants are falling off them! It is empowering to take control of your waistline & I love being a part of it.

The key in making a business like this work is to A) create a place where people are comfortable & free to try new things B) give them the right equipment, training & encouragement C) know when to push & when to coddle & D) be there when they need you. After all, it's the people that make this place great!

  • 50 reps are good for nothing though.fewer and heavier reps are way better

  • @Eromulex I beg to differ. At his age, movement is the most important thing. For bone health, for muscle health, to maintain posture, heavy lifting is not the key.

At your age, with your goals, your plan may be different. Glenn is doing great just walking through the door!

  • Wow!!! He's 91!! That's great!! Even with his cane, he keeps a work-out regime!! Go Glenn!!

  • Thats incredible!

  • What an amazing man! He is an inspiration, both the way he works out, and his sacrifices he made to keep us free!!!

  • I know him. He is one heck of a guy. He was captured by the Germans and escaped multiple times in WW2. He came very close to starving to death while he was a POW.
