WE HEAR THE RADICAL LIFE STORY OF A CANDIDATE RUNNING FOR LOS ANGELES CITY COUNCIL. HE'S A HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER AND LONG-TIME COMMUNITY ACTIVIST WHO WAS BORN IN THE UNITED STATES TO AN UNDOCUMENTED MOTHER. A MOTHER WHO FLED CIVIL WAR IN EL SALVADOR. AS A CHILD, HE VISITED HIS MOTHERLAND, SAW THIRD WOLD POVERTY AND COMPARED IT TO THE RELATIVE POVERTY IN HIS OWN STREET. THEREBY, HE ALSO WITNESSED THE CONTRADICTIONS OF A SOCIETY PROMISING GREAT WEALTH BUT DELIVERING LITTLE. HE ALSO REFLECTS ON HIS MANY EXPERIENCES IN COMMUNITY ORGANIZING, AND SHOWS US HOW PEOPLE ORGANIZED TOGETHER AT THE LOCAL LEVEL, CAN IGNITE CHANGE AT THE TOP.
