I absolutely love this song. I'll be honest, I'm a flat-out metalhead, but I've been getting into more psychedelic, alternative, electronic, and (in Funkadelic's case) funk stuff lately, and I love it.

@fatsramsey94 yes. Eddie & I met when we were 18 (1968) & saw each other off & on for 15 yrs. It was a real rollercoaster ride. I never got the impression that he wanted the spotlight, maybe that's why so little is known about him. When Hendrix died, he was deemed "the Heir to Jimi Hendrix". There are many solos on YTube--most of them as emotional as this. Look up Eddie Hazel 1979. The song is Standing on the Verge, and you can see how amazing he truly was. Also M-Brain Live 1983.

@funkedbyinjection - Curiously, did you know Eddie Hazel? It sounds like there's a lot of Hendrix in this, but I wouldn't be able to judge what inspired him to play this. It's a shame that there's so little information about Hazel, because nobody, not even Hendrix, ever made their guitar cry like he does in "Maggot Brain".

leider muss ich dabei immer wieder an meine verstorbene Mutter denke,weil ich weiss das sie dieses stück geliebt hat .
Mir kommen regelmäßig die Tränen und ich bekomm immer eine gänsehaut am ganzen Körper. Aber ich kann nicht aufhören es zu hören,

Cool, I appreciate you posting this. Your's is the only version on youtube that I found which was not an edited version. The other couple versions omitted the "Mother Earth is pregnant....." dialogue and went right into the music. Thanks for your posting . It also has the best quality sound on it as well.
