Friction drive? I mean like on the tires?

@MrBurnTec Looks like a narrow differential, large pully attached to the pinion where the yoke would go, driven by the motor. He is using the drum brakes to slow/stop either side to skid steer.

how did you do the gearing for it when you turn corners ? is it two clutches ?

@mattefood; You could pull those logs, which are too heavy to carry. The skidder is slow in the video, because the motor is idling. You could easily make it go faster.
