the ONLY thing with a refresh interval in gmail is checking connected POP mail accounts. If you have one, you'll see that you can "Check Now" which is Refresh (for that account). Otherwise gmail will refresh eventually by itself.
This button is a global refresh, for checking to see if new mail is here, from where ever possible
I'm sure that gmail refreshes as soon as it sends a message- so delivery was instant.
But I notice you use the same gmail notifier that I use, the one that popped up in the corner in the video. I have mine set to check every two minutes. Very often I'll notice that the popup comes up, saying I have a message. But that message is not yet in my inbox! Because the timing between when the extension checks and when gmail checks are different. How to get the message? CLICK REFRESH!!

No it's not. Gmail auto-refreshes once every second or even less.

I think it's there because if for some reason the auto-refresh is disabled or not working users can refresh manually.
