That is not true. Kemal was a gut diplomate and he managed to take French and Italians with his side, so that they gave him guns.

And another thing: Izmir burnt terribly at those days. In the film one can not see this at all. I missed it, it is part of the historical truth.

Turkish defeat of allies in Turkish War of Indepence is something the nations who were on the allied side rarely want to talk about because they got their asses kicked. As an American, I am happy that England is no longer imperialist because after they took Middle East from Ottoman control, the Middle East just turned into a terrorists breeding ground.

This is an excellent epic movie of authentic birth of modern Turkey. Just like "Lion of the Desert", it tells the story of 20th Century European imperialism.

Before I watch this epic film on UTube, I understand the Turks through British and Hollywood movies like Lawrence of Arabia. Now I understand better the true character of the Turks.
