Dude you got 21 seconds on XP and 23 seconds on Ubuntu...how can you say ubuntu is faster when it took 2 seconds longer to boot?
-
The thing with your WindowsXP start-up time you stopped before the apps were finished booting. 5 Sec's to boot Ubuntu and use the internet as well.

Very well,
I hear detail in any words. Good tutorial. Linux is really fast on dual core cpus.
Thanks.

thank you for the video, i have an old pc, that i have xp on. i want ubunto though, what are the benefits of running it along side xp? should i just delete xp and purely use ubuntu? or just not bother and keep xp?
i dont see the point in dual booting anyway, as i will only use one... is it good to keep them both? thanks

linux 11.10 and 11.04 are very sluggish for a linux os
-
better use ubuntu 10.04 its faster it boots in 8-12 sec
-
for me xp is the fastest too.

@laupii1 In windows, if you're on your admin account you can just click 'Allow' in a window that pops up. That convenience in tandem with software compatibility issues forced me back to Windows :(

My ubuntu 11.10 starts in less than 10 seconds
Would it not depend on the amount of background programs started with each program during bootup? I could slow down any OS with a bunch of garbage background noise. I think at this point it is futile to fight Bill Gates :)

@ArtisanTony Very true however, these were stock installs with nothing added to be fair.
