One song, five stations, five different processor settings.
I'd like to introduce a new, hopefully regular feature to Me Against Marconi called Processing War. I'll dig through my personal aircheck collection and select songs that appear on different stations and cut-and-splice them to compare how one song can sound across different radio stations.
In the first installation, we hear how Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" sounds on Kiss FM in Dallas, Star 94.1 in San Diego, 102.7 Now in Las Vegas, Kiss FM in Austin, and 93.1 the Party in Las Vegas.
All recordings were made using the same equipment, software, and settings.
I can't believe I just listened to that whole song. But seriously, that's interesting. Any specific reason for the wildly different processing settings? What goes into making that sort of decision?
