Is that wise cracking blonde Una Merkel??? I like how Ginger says "Oh, dear" while taking ANOTHER monacle out of her pocket and looking up with mock sophistication. Genius--and sooo funny. You can see why she became a star. Great movie--see it everybody. A classic.

Yes it is! I know I love the "oh dear." People who know me know I say that phrase a lot, so I was kinda stoked to see her say that. I love the dynamic between Ginger and Una - just two hilarious people. I love it.

It's about putting on a musical called 42nd Street. So a musical within a musical! I think the trailer is on YouTube, and I'm sure there are descriptions by people on IMDb that surely write better than I do. :)

This shows Ginger's talent for being a mimic and putting over various chacterizations.

Ok, we can't get more American musical than this--'42nd St.' --all the fun cliches--the kid becoming a star, the up tight producers, the drama, the sidekick, great songs--what more do you want????

rogers has some great lines in this film, my favourite is during the fight scene, she says "this ain't no place for anyone who's insurance ain't paid up". I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use that one.
