Its May of 1977, and we are in Belcamp MD, as we watch ex-Reading 4-8-4 2101, painted for Chessie Steam Special making its first trip out of Baltimore MD, to Phil. PA. on the B&O mainline. Two friends and I waited at this crossing close to two hours. Five minutes before the train, two guys flew up to the crossing, jumped out there car, and stood next to us. I told them, PLEASE no talking as I was fliming the action. They said no problem. YAH, RIGHT!!! You can hear the idots babling away in the beginning of the first clip. This was taken with my old Kodak Super 8mm sound movie camera. So I'm sorry if its not the best quality. Thanks for watching...

  • My husband took me to see this special engine on May 14th, 1977 and as a result of the walk to see it, I went into labor and our first son was born 4 hours later. Thanks for the memory!!

  • @adfgfds i think so too.

  • ah the t1s of the b&o they were before my time, but i heard about them on video many years ago, Though I have to say my favorites will always be the lima locos, the smallest of the big three but they put out the best designs, and they built the allegany class the largest and most powerful of them all, of the mountain locos nearly 8000 hp drawbar power. they say it was 7500 but I was told it was closer to 8000 by the guys at allen county railroad historical society, home of the 765, a lima berk

  • Wow! Locations near ME! I know where these were shot though never railfanned those exact spots despite frequenting the Philly Sub. There are some nice spots further south.

As far as folks gabbing during runbys, that's the story of my life! I've come incredibly close to kicking peoples' asses but being hauled off to jail for assault doesn't sit too well with me. Neither does messing up someone's video!!

  • Nice catch!

  • @dumbasscracker CRAP! I was SO pissed off! I wanted to hurt the guy! To be set up for hours on the location, and then these A-holes pull in at the last minute and screw the whole thing up. MAN!!! I WANTED TO HURT the DH...

  • @engrdave325 Did you name the kid "Chessie"?

  • I rode that trip!! And yes she was HAULING aspirin most of the way!! Great vid!!

  • Awesome video!! I've had a few babblers like that too, and it always annoys the piss out of me. Still - damn she was moving in these shots!!!

  • Awesome! Love It!!!
