He brought Big Government to its knees and stared down the Soviet Union. And the audience loved it. Ronald Reagan knew, going in, the sentence he wanted, and he got it. He guided the American victory in the cold war. Under his leadership, a conflict that had absorbed a half-century of Western blood and treasure was ended — and the good guys finally won.

The truth: No nation in the history of man has done nearly so much for the freedom of man as has done the USA. We have fought hot and cold wars around the globe... neither for conquest nor profit. Untold millions owe their freedom to America. Yet today the young in S Korea and Europe spit on Americans and call them warmongers, etc. It is not we who should feel shame for what we are or have done.

Reagon won hearts and love by doing simple things. He spoke directly to the people. He spoke on their level, about things they understood. He NEVER took credit for anything, and he ALWAYS praised the people of the country and those that worked for him. He said that the people of the country were the heroes and the power behind everything great... and MEANT IT. No dimwitted democrat has been able to say that in decades.
