AWESOME! Now that is a steam locomotive right there. The whistle does'nt fit it though. Does the whistle sound the same in the Chessie System Steam Special locomotive?

Originally Reading T-1's 2100-2119 had freight whistles. But Nos. 2120-2129 originally had pasenger whistles for troop train duty, in addition to steam heat and air signal lines. They were also used on the head end-laden Harrisburg Special during holiday seasons. But after a few years their passenger whistles were switched out for freight hooters to match the rest of the freight pool. But for the Rambles 2100 and 2102 were retrofitted with steam heat, air signal lines, and passenger whistles

I also have the Lionel 2100. Although someone put it on a shorted siding and lost the original whistle. Ungraded to TMCC with QSI Northern sound - beautiful whistle, but not a T-1!

Reading T-1s I Know 2100'01'02'24 Were Passinger T-1s But The Freight T-1s Have That Whistle.

the whistle is not right?? Yes..
other than that..A+ Steve

HOLY SMOKE!!!! That's a lot for a model steamer!
-
crappy whistle, but the rest is good

Now now, that's what the Reading was known for, that high-pitched hooter on thier frieght engines. N&W was the same way. Personally I like it...

canny wired
Love the engine, HATE that whistle!!! UGH!!! Too European. Seriously I know it is the authentic Reading freight whistle, but if I had one of those engines, I would switch out that sound unit for one out of a N&W Class A or Y-6; single-note, but with an authoritative tone. I have a Lionel Reading T-1 and THAT one has a Reading 6-note whistle sound unit.

Because PS-2/DCS is a software-based system, at some point in the future I'll be able to substitute a passenger whistle for the freight whistle.
