John Higgins was an ordinary teenager who loved playing basketball and had big plans for his future, but all that changed the day his back was broken in a workplace accident.

  • I have no sympathy for this person AT ALL!

How is this the employers fault? He made the conscience decision to put a running vehicle in gear without being on it.

  • I would have just jumped in o__O

  • I was taught to park with the wheels straight, and make sure they're straight before use too.

Unsafe practice isn't uncommon, many Warehouses tend to treat staff like immigrant slave type workers and push, push, push for more work and faster work, but when there is an accident, the first thing i ever saw my company do was try to find out if the injured person followed all safety precautions, just so that they wouldn't be able to get sued if the injured person hadn't.....

  • @Zombie101Survival i completely agree, i also drive a lift everyday. if the wheels are turned they wont straighten.

  • dude forklifts ar slow as shit in reverse not to mention with the wheel in full lock even slower just hop in and there ya go and every forklift ive operated has a kill switch in the seat i couple days ago i was on one fifteen years old i got up and well it died sat down started it got up again it died again ive never heard of anyone even being able to start one while not in the damn thing i call bullshit or someone tampered with the safety or someone just ran his ass over and he is covering it

  • ..so..engine running..you take off the parking brake..then put in gear...while standing to the side...? you certainly wouldn't do that in your car..would you???

  • just shows us that manegment looks at the older worker as someone they can replace with a kid, i hope that kid gets better and goes back to school. you also need to be 18 to operate equipment and that's even to young. so this is ether a lie or a vary bad work place that needs to be shut down.....

  • Safety is a decision every individual must make for himself.

  • No sympathy.. sorry..

  • Man the re-enactment made the accident look really retarded...
