When the fan motor in my air conditioner stopped, I decided to capture it with my camera.

  • It was a bad fan motor.

Top Comments

  • bad capacitor

  • i would try and give it a little spin while it's of to see if it is jamed or just got that "sticky position". then give it a spin and while it slows down, turn it on. if it still doesn't work it's a bad motor. if it starts to spin after you spin it but won't start from just sitting, you have a bad capacitor. hope this helps. :)

  • just replace the fan motor before you burn the compressor out

  • bad motor and stop it cause youll kill the commpressor

  • no the cap is ok. bad windings or bad bearings?

  • @adwdragon capacitor*

  • Any questions my e-,ail is chilledout38@yahoo.com- get it chilled out therefore the a.c. tech thing!

  • It could possiby be a bad compacitor!...Its one of the first things I check!...look and see haow many micro ferrids the compacitor is raetd at and then get out your meter!

Most peeps dont know what this means so if you know a friend or someone that can help its easy! instead call a pro company and get ready to spend anywhere from 100-200 for a 9-15 dollar compacitor..some are higher but damn they gouge the shit out of peeps for B.s.

  • I am an A.C. Tech.... as soon as anyone sees this you shoud turn off your system!....All you are doing is harming your sytem! you have to have the fan runing to dissapate the heat! -Hopefully your system has a high head pressure switch and shuts the system down!....if your compressor runs and your fan motor dont! big bucks! if not repaired a.s.a.p.

  • @Lodizal03 I meant on the motor shaft

  • @dickcheney6 those motors are perm-lubricated...they dont have oil ports

  • bad fan motor or relay
