"When purchasing a pre-built computer system you really need to do your research on the company you are buying it from. You do not want to spend 4-6 thousand dollars or more and then have to deal with all kinds of problems. Also, make sure the company has an excellent support department. Puget Custom Computers have been fantastic throughout the entire process, right from the build to the delivery, and that's what customers want. With a Intel Core 2 E6700 CPU, Asus P5N32-E SLI motherboard, BFG GeForce 8800GTX 768MB Water Cooled Edition Video Card and 2GBs of Kingston HyperX DDR2-800 memory, it's an amazing gaming rig. I have Digital Storm, Cyberpower, Maingear, Alienware, AddictPC, VigorGaming, AvA direct, Puget Systems, Ibuypower, Velocitymicro, Falcon-NW, New Egg, and Tiger direct all book marked. I would be really interested in the list of your components. I trust no body.
Its not idiotic to "not" build your own. I challenge you to configure your pc on Digital storms web site, making sure to remember everything you'll need (including operating system). Then try to purchase those items on new egg. Then factor in Shipping. For me in Alaskanew egg wanted to charge me 40 dollars to send a 49 dollar printer. Many computer makers will ship for free. Believe me I have tried many times to justify making my own.
Trust me I've looked at the Digital Storm website, and it's clear they are the highest quality custom built gaming pc website out there. However, like every other company, they are ridiculously overpriced. Configuring the exact same system that I have built, it would cost me $2500-$3000 more than what it cost me to build on my own. And it wouldn't even be quite as good, because they don't use the nice bitspower compression fittings or the best radiators, and they don't use murdermod sleeving.
List your components. The computer I have configured Costs $1700 on Cyber power, $2200 on Digital Storm $2080 on Puget Systems. If I try to purchase everything needed from New Egg...I end up in the 2500 range. I would hardly call that ridiculously overpriced.
