Out and Loud, Auckland Town Hall 04-Apr-2010.

Perhaps NZ's most famous song, this was an arrangement by Douglas Mews. Song was composed in about 1914, in the area around the north of Auckland, at the start of World War One.

Translated, it is:
They are agitated
the waters of Waiapu:
But when you cross over girl
they will be calm.

Oh girl
Return to me!
I could die
of love for you!

Video dedicated to Jan Suckling and Jan Wuis from GALS Auckland, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring about a fantastic weekend for all the choirs.

  • It would have been really good if they were in a beat sharpening the cuts amongst the verses brings less value of the spirituality of the sound of the song, when listening.

  • way are they singing it fast
