I went to Addlestone models knowing they had a few of these and came away with one in all over green. The motor car is quite heavy and runs really well. For the money you pay you get a good deal, 4 MK1 coaches, one motored and all lit for little over £100. I certainly think its a steal and will definitely buy the upcoming EPB next year.
The comment to the couplings being flimsy is only during coupling up which you have to do with the model on its side. When running there is no issue.
If you model the Southern, I'd definitely recommend it, you could do a lot LOT worse!
Agree totally about the couplings; an unnecessary complication which may not prove durable. Practicality and ease of use sacrificed on the altar of DCC.

your spot on with the couplings mate-got my blue/grey one today via rails of sheepfield, and it's a bit of a sod isn't it!had to lay the vehicles on their sides on a jumper so as not to damage them whilst i faffed about to connect them.i can't see me 'braking the set' appart too oftern-so i guess it'll have to come off as a complete unit..

I'm waiting for my blue/grey one. I also want a green one with small yellow panels. The one depicted in the picture is a little bit before my time. They all had twin air horns by the time i was around. This one is as built with the whistle instead of the air horns
