I can't come back to Ireland with my kids to look for work because you have to be resident in Ireland for two years before you can claim assistance. We were founded as a welfare state, like it or not, but an asylum-seekers get the dole before an Irish citizen just because they've been in Ireland for two years.

IRISH PEOPLE PAY THE COST
The state is spending more than 91.5million euro a year to accommodate 7000 asylum seekers, due to 7yr backlog. There are 14,131 'leave to remain' applicants whom the Justice Dept. describes as having 'unfounded' claims for asylum.
