Fonz is a slice of playful pop perfection with a post-punk edge. Possibly the most upbeat and infectious track on Eugenes wonderful album, it sits amongst unapologetically romantic songs, portraying Eugenes cheekier side (We said farewell and we synchronized our watches/ Arranged for the meeting of our crotches). With a lyrical nod to Scott Walker (which, coming from a twenty-two year old adds that extra bit of poignancy), Fonz is imaginative and utterly charming, in Eugene McGuinness own unique, inimitable style.
