Cape muso Pastor Glen Robertson pays tribute to the legendary Cape Doctor: the one and only Robbie Jansen. He speaks to Heart 104.9fm's Clarence Ford who hosted a special tribute on his show, Thursday 8 July 2010.
My thoughts:
My heart is very, very sore today. It has been almost a full year since the day I attended Uncle Robbie's birthday bash at Calvin Peters' hangout, The G-Spot in Epping.
Asia is my home-away-from-home these days and I am fortunate to be able to travel to Cape Town during the Asian summer every year. Last year was a very special trip for me. I will always treasure the time I got to spend watching and speaking to Uncle Robbie at The G-Spot that evening.
My feeling of profound loss and helplessness is exacerbated by the fact that I find myself so far from home these days. I have compiled a couple of other video clips under the pseudonym TaiwanSaffiesDotKom & CapeTownTalks (2 websites I ran some time ago). I hope you view these clips as they are my humble contribution to keeping the culture and the memories of our Ou Toppies alive.
Hopefully I can return home soon and make more of a contribution.
I wish you peace.
Done. Sorry for the oversight, Paddy.
