The MuSLIMES could never build something this magnificent, they needed to steal other people's labors.

I am a historian. I produced this video two years ago for my students. Could the Greek and Turkish nationalist neanderthals who post here just take their fight to some street away from here. This is about a monument that is significant as a way to understand an important long deceased civilization. The complexes of testosterone filled Greeks and Turks who can barely write and can certainly not communicate in basic civility are not of interest to me.

@Dimik72 You haven't fully understood the meaning of the word "Roman", so you make some mistakes.
The name Roman stopped being a national/racial name and became a political term. This happened gradualy & naturally because of the great expansion & of the mentality of the Roman empire and was formalized in 212 AD (Constitutio Antoniana).
So, being Roman doesn't mean you can't be Greek or Armenian etc.

@AnarchistRebelIion What about suleymaniye mosque? it was build by sinan, muslim of course

@AnarchistRebelIion Unfortunately, even in this time and era there are uptight, arrogant and fools like you. I don't want to start a debate about Muslims and Christains, bur what do you think about the Taj Mahal. Its probably the most majestic piece of architecture. And it was built by Muslims.

@kahvevotka i am new and i dont know how to handle my account
I am just pushing a bit on categories. The Ottomans used a many Greeks, Armenians, Slavs, Italians and so on as members of their ruling elites. While the empire was been ruled by a Turkic Sultan it was managed by a multiethnic officialdom who defined themselves as Ottoman subjects. So that is why Turkish ruled is somewhat inaccurate. Now in modern nationalist discourse we have things simpler so that we can easily hate each other. In history things are more complex and fascinating.

You defined yourself as Greek. No Byzantine ever did that until Plethon, whose works were burned by the clergy. So unless you feel Roman, you appreciate your Roman past, and you think of Rome as the roots of your history and culture, then you are not Byzantine. You bear cultural traits associated with Byzantium but Orthodoxy was just part of the Byzantine Roman identity. The rest is modern Greek national fiction. Nothing bad with it. All nations use fictions like that, it is just not history.

Hagia Sofia is Greek, no one denies that, do they?? The thing is unlike the mosques in Greece, Hagia Sofia has been taken good care till now! It has been under Turkish ruled country for more than last 550 years and you can come visit to see this beauty and you are always welcome! I really would like to see the friendship of Greece and Turkey even more strenghten! We should promote the friendship not conflicts. You gotta see this song from: watch?v=wuR3cstWoCE

@kahvevotka Actually the Hagia Sophia is Roman. The building was created by the Roman Emperor Justinian. It is the apex of Roman architecture, built with cement and bricks (both perfected by the Romans). No Byzantine ever considered HS as Greek. In fact no Byzantine ever felt Greek, unless he were an erudite musing about Plato. Also, the HS has indeed been well taken care of by the Ottomans and then the Turks. But the two are not the same. There were non-Turkish Ottomans (the majority in fact).
