Using a Food Clip to Feed Turtles Lettuce ~ Eastern Painted, Hieroglyphic Cooter & Mississippi Map

Using a food clip to feed your turtles romaine lettuce is easy and they will become very active while enjoyng their leafy treat. Simply put a leaf of romaine lettuce in the food clip then place the clip on the front glass of the aquarium, and watch your turtles start chomping and tearing away. Plus when you feed lettuce to your turtles it can remain in the tank because it generally does not cause any fouling problems.

Most aquatic turtles are omnivores, meaning they eat both plants and animals. In captivity they also require a diverse diet. The best choice for feeding is to use a variety of foods. Good choices are of course turtle food pellets or even fish food, but turtles also enjoy romaine lettuce and it is excellent for them too. As your turtles get older cooked meat and raw fish is also acceptable, but avoid oily varieties which will foul the water. Earth worms are another good choice and small goldfish or minnows. You can feed your turtles once per day and should remove whatever is uneaten after 10 or 15 minutes.

Hey uhhhmm .. :D i just Bought my turtle he is small ! but is it Okay if my turtle is Alone ? Because i Just Bought one :D and The Lettuce ... can i feed them with that Food Only ? lettuce only ? Because i Dont know What to feed them !.. i buy this Food For turtle it is color Green .. whatEver . but i really Dont know what to feed Them ( Sorry For my English) Please REPLY PLEASE ! PLEASE ! i really love my turtle :(

@ProHackerDel77 ~ Yes, you can buy the food at petsmart in the turtle section, if you live in the US. It is very good for turtles to eat a variety of food like turkey, dried shrimp, lettuce, spinach, and turtle pellets.

@MADGRIGGS -- You should try a different food selection. You can also try feeding him outside of the tank, just like I do with my turtles. :)

Thankyou so much for this piece of advise. My baby turtle hasn't eaten since I caught him, so like 2.5 days and I've trying giving him reptomin, and several fruit and even some small pieces of lettuce.. But he would eat anything. But this devise allows me to get rid of the waste when he is done.

Question: you say that it's not a meal but an additive. Well he hasn't eaten any reptomin yet so what should I do? I don't think he likes being put in a separate container :-/

@vanceoliver ~ Provide a variety of foods and leave the room to allow your turtle to have the comfort and peace to eat in what he feels is a safe place. Think about it, he is scared considering you just caught him in the wild. Taking a turtle out of the tank to eat is not needed, but beneficial for several reasons. I hate to say this, but if he just won't eat you must take him back to exactly where you found him and set him free.

@SteeleTate yh if your turtle is stress or something that hes not gettin use to ... & is true add a little bit of the tank water and add it into a plastic box & feed him as some turtles do not eat for the first time is bcause the temperature of water , water condition , Stress (not adding predator fish) , turtle dock were they relax , a Light special for turtles not any other light may harm the turle . any help im here
