Black Racer Encounter

I was in a field when I spotted a large black snake in the high grass. So I put my camera on and charged after it.....I was confused because it didnt move at all....and I was even more confused when I found out there was 2! One male and one female. I caught the male. It was a sloppy catch on my part.

I knew it wasn't venomous. But if I had to choose between getting bit and not getting bit....well I'd choose not to. Call me "un-macho" but I still got to handle it.

@kevythedevil Not when your collecting data for the local university. Plus, I did put it down. It was in my hands for less than 4 minutes. So I don't see what the issue is. Finally, I didn't "bag" anything. I let it go just like you saw in the video. If you are going to read in-between the lines then you have to read the actual lines first. Don't jump to conclusions.

OMG i saw one of those while I was running today...I think I scared the snake and the snake scared me..b/c we both scrambled then stared at each other for a second (it popped its head up outta the grass) and then we scrambled away again. I NEVER RAN SO FAST IN MY LIFE!!!

Yeah, they catch me by suprise all the time. Sometimes the best thing to do is to observe and then move on!

That's a cool snake!! A lot of it's relatives are good constrictors. That is a very widely-varied family.
