L85 (SA80) Shooting

Here's a video my mate took when 300 Squadron (ATC) went shooting at RAF Linton-on-Ouse. We were firing the L98, but the guys training us wanted to show us what the cadets will be firing next year the SA80 (l85).

Argh I don't know who said "close but it actually means standard army"

No it doesn't. Get your facts right . It actually does mean Small arms (in this case Small Arms for the 1980 ) which include the l85 a1, l98 , l86 a2 , l85 a2 , l96 a1, a2) there actually isn't a rifle called the Sa80 , sa80 is a generalisation for all weaponds like l85 a1,a2 .. L86 a2 etc... So on and so fourth. So until you actually KNOW what ya on about don't comment .

I got to fire one of these in an army base in shrewsbury. They're great weapons, but I only got a go with the iron sighted version. They wouldn't let me shoot one wih a susat sight

@MadMitch171 theres no screw although i was talking to one of the guys who takes care of all the weapons in the armoury at RAF Odiham, and the way you do it is you have to do a full strip of all the mechanical parts, and theres a small spring that you can alter (he wouldnt tell us how) where the change lever normally is. thats why us cadets are only allowed to be shown how to strip it down as far as taking the bolt block out :(

look exactly to the rear of the weapon on the left hand side and you will see it inbetween the bolt realse catch and catch and the magazine realse catch :)

actualy ill prove you wrong there im from the fife area blackwatch bittalion and ill tell you that the l98a2 dose fire on full auto if you look to the rear of the but on the left hand side just under the bolt release catch theres a small screw turn it once clock wise and then do your functions test you will not hear the dead mans click when you realses the trigger but you will be able to fire off the action this is because the weapon is now in full auto any other question about the weapon ??

L96 is a Sniper rifle, and no cadet would get to play with them. Your tossing out your L98a1 and replacing them with L98A2 which wont fire automatic
