@BoyScoutTroop306 those are the tall variety of grass called reeds w/ hollow stalks and grow in marshes or anywhere near water and mostly the dried stalks are what they use to spin to make strands/ropes.the ropes made fr the grass have a useful life of,would you believe, abt 4 yrs before they break down unless treated or not exposed to the changing elements..go nature,eh?it's out there---
