Nope you shouldn't need to... There have been plently of Cam Only and H&C cars getting around years after the work has been done. All depends how you drive it I guess.
oh and with that big cam did you have to do the heads as well ?

this is exactly the setup I'm looking at doing I'm buying a VX R8 , but with the cam do you need to rebuild this thing every 18 months ?

yeah I see what you mean, so I assume this has had a mafless tune ?
did you fuel usage go up a lot after the cam ?
cause my car is going to be a daily driver

For a daily it may be safer to go for a cam in the 22x range as they still offer good power and can be more street friendly.
