Smallest beam engine in the world? This is a steam powered beam engine made by Philcraft Models. 1/4" bore, double acting.

  • crabfu, where can I get one of these? This would make a great coffee table item and conversation piece! Are these buyable?

  • Philcraft is no longer in business :( They were sold as kits or pre assembled in a variety of configurations, all very tiny. They are beautifully made, amazing craftsmanship, but are very hard to track one down. The only thing that I can recommend is to check on ebay, or other internet auctions.

  • I saw a comment about the missing parallel motion, so now the question, how does it dispense with it, a slot at the connection between the piston rod and beam?

  • What is the purpose of the tube which is on the boiler ? Is it just decoration ?

  • I would think the speeding up and slowing down is from Priming ,ie water getting into cylinder instead of steam cause by over filling the boiler. no smaller than my beam but my one does have the parallel links . They are easy enough to make but just fiddly

  • nice how long did it take to build cause i only found this while looking for ideas for my gcse product and i think this wud get n A* easy

  • My guess would be as it uses steam, it slows. the tiny boiler makes more steam, it speeds back up. I use compressed air and a regultor for mine.

  • Moc hezký, supr :-)

  • cool

  • hey do you think that you could send me some prints on how to make that? because I think that is just so cool and i want to make one

  • why does it speed up and slow down all the time?

  • That was perfect!

I' m looking for some tutorial that can help me to build one tiny steam engine on my own.

Do you know if exist some good site where I can find a complete set of instructions?

    Thank you!
