Pil Crauer is a Swiss German author and poet. A long time contributor to EuroNews, he divides his time between Lucerne in Switzerland and Provence in France. Fifty years after the signing of the Treaty of Rome. We wanted his views on Europe, as a European intellectual, but not an EU citizen. He believes that a formal European constitution is not necessary and the question of institutional reform has been around for a long time.
Europeans (if that is what you consider yourselves) do not have the same outlook as the British and this is why we (the British) are constantly at odds with our European neighbours. We do not want to change how you live, work or play, but you want to change almost everything that we do... our weights & measures, the colour of our electrical wire, how our courts work and how our justice system functions. We resent this and we thus resent the EU. We are better off out.
