The tumor stable condition. A yr later it metastasized & got in my lung. 2 months ago it got in to my pericardium, the sack around my heart. with a liter of fluid I get a dose of herceptin (Trastuzumab) used for breast cancer every 3 wks. $10,000 a shot. Radiation killed the tumor. My left cheek is numb.Whiskers don't grow on the left side.. The Parotid gland gives you saliva necessary to eat. I used a feeding tube for 4 months. Saliva is back.

I started in May of 2004 with the painful electrical shocks to the head which got worse and worse for about a year. The pain was know as the one of the most painful medical disorders called Trigeminal Neuralgia. This happens rarely in 1 of 25,000 people. A year later it was discovered that I had a parotid (Salivary) gland tumor too deep to operate on safely without significant disfigurement of the face. Your salivary glands very valuable. They give you saliva which you can not eat without. Initially I had 3 chemo treatments along with 33 radiation treatments. The electrical shock stopped after the first chemo. Going through this right now for lymphoma. The mask is just horrible. I have never experienced claustrophobia in my life...until they put this darn mask on me..Went from normal to psycho in less than 5 minutes..Nobody could understand until they are tightly bolted to the table wearing one of these things for 25 minutes...horrible. But hopefully will save my life. Really grateful after watching this that at least I don't have to wear a tongue guard.. Best of luck to you.

hope he lived, I have had to wear a mask 4 times, unheard of, ask any one, I have had a tube in my stomach for 3 years and can not even drink a teaspoon of water so what,

God has nothing to do with this it is all in the genes and lifestyle. I quit smoking 30 years before I got tongue/throat cancer. Never drank, was never overweight, exercised daily. Had it now for more than 5 years..

You HAVE to allow them to or else the wrong fields will receive the radiation (just look at some videos where they have to use the mask to line up where the machine needs to send the radiation). It's not like we have a choice when it's in the head & neck area. You need to learn some sensitivity & learn how to be less of a pathetic jerk!!

Someone who isn't young and foolish, thinking that he or she is invincible and will never require unpleasant medical procedures. Lots of luck, kid. Let's see what you say when you hit 50 or 60 and are worried about preserving your life.

Mr. Nelson, I went through RT last year for recurrent parotid tumors. Unfortunately, it didn't take. Pleomorphic adenomas are radiation resistant. However, it was a very interesting procedure to say the least. Best to you in your recovery.
