In Dubai, you will find all expats drive. The heat in Dubai can be detrimental to your car, so it is often beneficial to park in a garage when possible. Driving in Dubai can at times be challenging as many drivers are known to speed, which can make others on the road nervous. If one is not comfortable driving, taxis are on call and generally inexpensive - a good alternative to driving yourself. Public transportation is also available, but it may not take you as far as you need to go and schedule times can often be inconvenient. The metro however, built above ground, should be ridden at least once to get a great view of Dubai as its built almost the full length of Dubai's main boulevard Sheikh Zayed Road.
