This is one brave kid! Tom Buchanan of Australia laid in a clear perspex box and had 125 Golden Orb Spiders put onto his body for 55 seconds during the 'Australia: Guinness World Records' TV show in Sydney, New South Wales on 27 August 2005.

I'm only commenting because I live in a city called Medicine Hat and the second word in that username is medhat. Other than that you can go fuck yourself.

Australia is one country where the effects of certain critter bites are not exaggerated, or put down to secondary causes like infection. There are about a dozen things here whose bite will very likely kill you if you don't go for treatment immediately. Fortunately most of them are difficult to find. In 3 years here I have not seen a single snake, or a spider more dangerous than a redback. And whilst their bites hurt like almost nothing else you do have to poke them or sit on them to get bitten.

No, not in the case of funnelwebs. They are the most toxic spider, and among the most toxic creatures in the world - only just outstripped by the inland taipan, blue-ringed octopus etc.(also natives here). There is now a highly effective antivenom, but without it because of severe toxicity and high dose an adult could be dead within a few hours to a couple of days. Fortunately no one's died in 30 years because of the antivenom and pressure bandages, and knowledge/notoriety of the spider.

I have a feeling that the mortality rate was higher due to infection or inability to properly treat the bite rather than the venom itself. That seems to be the case with almost any venomous animal.
