Many thanks for taking the time to make such a fantastic tutorial. I've just managed to make my own supported spindle using Fimo for the whorl and a length of dowel. But it'll take me a while to get anywhere near your standard - you make it look so easy and effortless!

Hi,
I got a local woodturner to make mine for me. It isn't a big job, so it shouldn't be too expensive. You need to say that you want the sides to slope in to a dip in the middle (imagine a reversed cone shape) rather than a bowl shape. This is the best shape as your spindle will always sit right in the centre of the dish. If you send me your email address, I can send a photo of mine for you take along for someone to copy.

Your demonstrations are always a good learning experience. How many spinning tools do you have? Because I had never heard of the African bead spindle;)

Hi Susan,
Hmmm, do I have to answer that? Try searching for this term 'Lhamo spins more' in YouTube (tried to give the link, but my reply disapeared), have you see one of those before? I have that kind too, but don't think I'm any where near as good as Lhamo on it!
My latest toy (when I get time to have a play!) is a stylus for my Suzie wheel, looks like it will be fun!
