Danny Cruz - Halftime Shuffle Drumming - Mapex Saturn Special Birch

Video number 3 of the 2009-2010 series features a slow and groovy halftime shuffle track provided by the awesome RHYTHM Magazine.

The drumkit is my prized Mapex Saturn Special Edition Birch & Walnut in Supernova Red. This kit is the Five Star Drum Shops Edition. For more on the kit, please see my other videos in the series.

The snare is my trusty DW Collector's Edition Copper 4 x 14".

Cymbals are a collection of Zildjian K Custom Dark cymbals. The hi-hat is a K Custom Hybrid 13 1/4" and the splash is a regular K.

For recording I used mainly a combination of Shure SM57 and Sennheiser E835 microphones.  The single overhead microphone you can see in some of the angles is an Audio Technica AT4041 condenser. All of the mics were run into a Mackie Onyx soundboard plugged via firewire in an iMac running Logic Studio.

This track comes to you courtesy of one of the best drum magazines, Rhythm. I take no credit for the music and arrangements. I just came up with those drum parts.

@metaldudebuff92 It's a little DW timbale. But if you are referring to the wood block it's a Yamaha Groove Wedge.

Please can you tell me, what sizes of this K Custom Dark crashes, china and K splash you have...?? I love the sound! All the best, you are good original drummer. :)

@Rafan8 16" and 18" crashes. 17" China. 10" Splash. 20" Ride. Everything is K Custom Dark except for the hats that are 13-1/4" K Custom Hybrids. Thanks for the good words! -Danny

@holyhell937 Tune the heads to finger tight and then gradually tighten it and when it starts to resonate thats the tuning.
