NEW! Better version available at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7U7Fyk51i0

Decided to tackle a computer-generated stormy sea. Very pleased with the result, better than I expected. Rendered on a low-horsepower computer, hence the poor resolution and short duration. Hoping to get a longer version up at some point when I get this onto my main rendering machine.

I used Lightwave 3D v9.6.1, with no third-party plugins. The sea is a high-res mesh with just a few layers of displacement. The FastFresnal shader helped a lot with the watery look. Other than that, two particle emitters add a bit of atmosphere. One generates sprite-based fuzz off the sea, the other is sprite-based rain.

  • Good stuff, the rain is a bit foggy perhaps.
