Due to our concerned with the long-term livelihood of the poverty stricken communities and their children in particular, World Harvest launched a long term strategic initiative and one of the initiatives is building Community Transformation Center (CTC) in poor communities.
Holistic Approach
The holistic approaches for economic, social and spiritual domains are embraced in the World Harvest's Community Transformational approach. The CTC, as an integrative process, is greater than the sum of its component parts that focus on transformational process. It involves a three dimensional process that is rooted in the attainment of the love of God, bringing about social justice and in meeting the needs of poor people. Community transformation in World Harvest's holistic approach will serve the purpose of economic growth, social justices and poverty reduction through community, family and child development framework.
Children with Childhood
Children are at the heart of World Harvest's mission and core values. Though children are tomorrow's responsible citizens, they are the most vulnerable groups. World Harvest provides education opportunities and health care for many children without childhood - children of war, children of the streets, children of labor -- with a focus on the development of the child as a whole. To this effect, ensuring children's well-being within the context of their families and communities is a critical objective in the transformational process.
Cultivating Internal Facilitators for Transformational Process
The community transformational structure is designed to organize and train community facilitators with skills in leadership and development programs amongst their communities. This set up makes it possible to build effective relationship and trust needed for transformational process.
