The District of Columbia awoke to storms this morning. Huddled under an overhang outside the Iranian Consulate's office, were Americans and Iranian-Americans standing in solidarity with the people of Iran. Notwithstanding the rain, the crowd began its slow march, about two-and-a-half miles to the White House.

As they marched, the rain subsided, giving way to a gorgeous day, almost perfect for a demonstration. The crowd was loud and energetic, venting their anger, frustration, and concern. There was also a sense of hope, in light of an uprising in Iran on a scale not witnessed since the Iranian Revolution of 1979. Young and old alike, expressed their inspiration.

  • I'm American born, Scottish and Jewish by heritage. I am home.

And in America, we're allowed to express ourselves without being told to leave the country.

  • By protesting in the American Capital, are these people also condoning a future U.S. attack and regime change in Iran, or would these same people complain if there was action taken to help "free" the Iranian people from their government?

  • We condone all non-violent actions to make real change. So no, we do not condone invading Iran.

And no, we are not hypocrites (as you were most certainly attempting to imply) for opposing tyranny, and opposing war at the same time.

  • Because it shows the leaders of those countries were the natives of Iran stand and how they feel about the current situation. It is important for the leaders of america and europe to know what the people think. They are hoping to sway international support for the opposition. It happens to be working, because at first Obama refused to comment on the issue, now he openly supports the opposition.

  • all iranians who ran away from must go back now a make country right . we protest from US and europe. but we need to go back and fight for beloved iran
