Pictures from around my house and neighborhood. I tried to capture the beauty of this disaster. We sat on the porch the night the storm started listening to the huge branches cracking and falling on houses and cars. Very surreal!
The scenes are tranquil but elsewhere it was chaotic with thousands of power personel from Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, and Louisiana working 24 hours a day to restore electricity.
There are other videos here at YT that show the distruction. We went 11 days without electricity and three days of being iced in. Oklahoma was hit badly also. Some people in Kentucky are still waiting for their power lines and poles to be fixed, not to mention dealing with the destructive aftermath.

So true. I heat my house with electricity, and it runs my sump pump in the basement. I had to take a bucket and every few hours bail out the sump. I prefer other kinds of fun.

It is beautiful isn't it. And you did a terrific job of showing that. The music is excellent too. Thanks for posting it as a video response to my post so I could see it.

I know all the limbs falling around our house was bad. One road was just covered with branches and limbs after it all the ice melted away. Only 1 branch fell at my house. That was lucky.

Dude, I remember this. There was a one way path down our street. I live in Harrison and litterally it looked like a war zone. It was bad, reminds me of the storm back in '99. This one was almost as bad, but we were out of power for almost three weeks back then. We're lucky to have so many people willing to help us through this. If it weren't for them, we'd still be cleaning up.

Yes, it sure did look like a war zone in Harrison! It's a great community that always pitches in when things like this happen.

It is amazing how something so destructive can be so beautiful as well. In my part of east Kansas, we had a similar storm a few years ago. It was beautiful here, too, but I don't care to repeat it.
