We took a ferry to the island of Cozumel to try a little snorkeling. Last year, we went snorkeling around Puerto Morelos which had a lot more reef. Most of Cozumel's reef, I heard, were destroyed by a recent hurricane but had so many fish that we felt like we were in an aquarium. Beautiful water even at the dock! We got off the ferry and look over and were amazed how blue and clear the water was. We got on the glass bottom boat and went to three different sites for snorkeling and took about 2.5 hours. 35 dollars per person with drinks included. No reservation, just got to the pier on Cozumel side and bought it from a man without arm. He lost his arm in an accident when he was working as an electrician.

I think the camera did well. This time I didn't forget to set it to Underwater mode, which took out a lot of 'Blues" from the image. I forgot to do that last year and had to do a lot of post processing to get rid of the blue/greens.

I stil wish I had a good underwater case for my GF1. Hoping to find a reasonable one soon.

  • hey great vid! im goin to the park royal(cozumel) and i hope the snorkeling sight will be great! one thing how do ppl do that while snorkeling like go *underwater* as in their entire body and the thing that keeps them breathing how do u do that without choking doesnt it fill with water??

  • @Elephantear587

Thanks for the comment. We stayed at Royal at Playa Del Carmen but I was curious about the Park Royal..I heard that they are owned by the same company. Please let me know how the hotel is! Cozumel, I think is better than Playa Del Carmen as far as the water clarity goes but Playa has more corals.

Some snorkeling gear has flapper so it won't fill with water when you go down into the water. And you have to hold your breath.

  • This video was the one that made me by this camera! Thankz!
