"I Will Survive," a song composed by by Freddie Perren and Dino Fekaris, was first performed in 1978 by Gloria Gaynor. It remains one of the most famous disco songs of all time and Gaynor's biggest hit. It received massive airplay in 1979, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100, also reaching number one in the UK the next day. It received the Grammy Award for Best Disco Recording in 1980, the only year that the award was given. It is ranked #489 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". The Song was also listed at #97 on Billboard's Greatest Songs of all time. In 2000 the song was ranked #1 in VH1's list of the 100 greatest dance songs. Frederick "Freddie" Perren (May 15, 1943 - December 16, 2004) was an American songwriter, record producer, arranger, and orchestra conductor. He was a member of The Corporation, a hitmaking production team which included Fonce Mizell, Deke Richards and Berry Gordy that wrote and produced The Jackson 5's early hits, including "I Want You Back", "ABC", The Love You Save", "Mama's Pearl", and "Maybe Tomorrow". Perren also produced G.C. Cameron "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday" from the film Cooley High. In the mid and late 70s, Perren found platinum success writing and producing such mega-hits as "Boogie Fever" by the Sylvers, "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor, and "Shake Your Groove Thing" by Peaches & Herb. He also produced Yvonne Elliman's recording of the Gibb Brothers' "If I Can't Have You" for the soundtrack to "Saturday Night Fever." Gloria Gaynor (born Gloria Fowles on September 7, 1949 in Newark, New Jersey), now living in Green Brook, New Jersey, is an American singer, best-known for the disco era hits; "I Will Survive" (Hot 100 #1, 1979), "Never Can Say Goodbye" (Hot 100 #4, 1974), "Let Me Know (I Have a Right)" (Hot 100 #42, 1980) and "I Am What I Am" (Hot 100 #82, 1983).

Po wielkim sukcesie tego albumu jeszcze w tym samym roku Gloria nagrała kolejny album "Experience". Jej kariera rozwijała się burzliwie utwierdzając jej pozycję jako królowej disco. Rozpoczyna liczne koncerty w USA, Europie, Azji, Kanadzie, Izraelu i wielu innych częściach świata. Rozpoczyna prowadzić nocne życie Nowego Jorku. W 1979 Gloria osiągnęła szczyt popularności dzięki singlowi I Will Survive, za który otrzymała nagrodę Grammy.
