On September 14, 2009, I was in a car accident and broke my spine in five places: C-2, T-1, T-2, T3, T5. I was put in a halo brace in the hospital, and spent a little over three months in the brace. On December 31, 2009 I had the brace removed.

  • i'm so sorry to hear about your car accident, but congrats on getting the brace off! i was actually in a car accident when i was 12 and had to wear a halo for quite a while, but now my halo is off and all i have are a few scars. i hope you are doing well now!

  • i'm scared to have it removed lol i'm going to be out of it in like 2 weeks, score! been in it since october. fractured my c3 and c4, and my neck was dislocated from my spine, among various other injuries.

  • Wow! you are incredible, to break your back in 5 places and pull through, incredible, well done.

  • hey ive got my halo on now ive had it on for only 2 n a half weeks now it gets me down :( how long did you have yours and do you have scars like dents in the forhead where the pins were ? thanks very much hope u made a full recovery ? ive broke my c1 3 and 4 by the way :(

  • Also I get mine off in just under 4 weeks and I was wondering how well the pin-site holes heal?

  • Ouch, I thought I was lucky not to be in worse shape and I only broke my C-2 haha

  • @101braceman : Yes specifically , cervical(neck) Vertebae :-)

  • I was reminiscing today, because i got a few comments. We're such nerds (you, me, and Julie) for making these videos. haha. but then again, we are helping loads of people. :-)

  • While wearing the halo, it might hurt some. But I took a lot of medicine for pain.

  • @green2bluedoll. When the doctor had to tighten the halo. It hurt a lot!
