ColorLines Magazine looks at an alternative industry, the green economy. The model is already working in urban areas across the country. It proposes a training on green jobs for people of color and improved quality of life in the country's poorest neighborhoods.

If we continue on the same path we have been on for the last 100 years we are doomed. Sad to see people see there own demise and are still unwilling to change. We are at the tipping point environmentally and need to act in every way, shape and form to correct what we know is killing the planet's ability to heal. We have the ability to turn the tide, but most be bold in our approach or the new jobs will continue to leave the country, I know I left and started our co. in Costa Rica..GL all!

"SolFocus assembles its solar panels in China, and the new San Jose headquarters employs just 90 people.
In the Bay Area as in much of the country, the green economy is not proving to be the job-creation engine that many politicians envisioned. President Obama once pledged to create five million green jobs over 10 years. Gov. Jerry Brown promised 500,000 clean-technology jobs statewide by the end of the decade. But the results so far suggest such numbers are a pipe dream." --New York Times

@GrandArchitect3D I can't believe that an "architect" would believe such a ridiculous statement as you make. "Green" or Sustainability building design and construction are pretty much the only part of the building industry growing. Green Buildings save money and help the environment. Don't believe me? Check out the green retrofit of the Empire State Building in NY. 4.2 million to retrofit, and they will make their money back in 5 years. Every architect I know is moving in that direction.

this entire idea of green is so totally discredited.
