  • Lovely introductory Gothic-worded frontespiece of the libretto.

The careworn baritone is a superb actor, in fine voice here.

In all, a wonderful, not over-the-top, nor a bosom-splitting, but well harmonious rendering of Mozart's heartrending masterpiece.

Also notable: The ladies scarpering off the stage at the curtain-fall, and Don Alonso's lingering, elegant farewell. Most captivating.

Many thanks to original poster for uploading this splendid video clip.

  • "God was singing through this little man to all the world"

Even as an atheist, I couldn't find better words for this music, so far beyond beautiful.

  • Thought the conducting was a bit off then noticed it was Eliot Gardiner so no surprises there.

Another example of kinghthoods being given indiscriminately these days. Perhaps the late Sir Georg Solti should have been given a Dukedom or maybe made a Prince such is the gap between these two, being a knight is obviously worthless.
